The 2009 Arts Festival will be held over the weekends of April 25/26 and May 2/3/4 giving people the chance to take in as many events as possible as well as take part through workshops and an art competition.

The Arts Trail

There will be exhibits from a wide-range of visual arts and crafts from Willington & Derbyshire.

Visitors will be able to purchase a trail guide (at £2 per adult) at several central points in the village. This is the entrance “ticket” to exhibitions. A map will show where each of the activities can be found, with a list of the exhibitors at each venue. To add interest to the trail, it will also highlight and give details of the points of historic interest in Willington. Trail guides can be entered into a prize draw to be held at the closing event on the evening of Monday May 4th.

Music Concerts

Evening Concerts will be staged at the Village Hall. There will be something to suit a range of age groups and musical interests over the festival period.

Workshops

As part of the aim of making the arts more accessible to the local community the Festival staged a number of art & craft workshops for all ages which included Creative Writing, Silk Painting and Pottery. 2009 plans to see the return of these workshops with the addition of music and drama.

Competition

To make the event open to everyone people will be challenged to “put it on a postcard” – a design challenge for all ages.

Sponsors

Local pubs, shops and other businesses are supporting the event through sponsorship.

Sponsors who wish to support the event or place an advert on our webpage should get in touch, in the first instance, with Sue Gent (07777 604279 or email: sue@tangenttreasures.co.uk)
